This is the kind of resort a large Marriott Bonvoy balance was saved for. Price the same room both ways and count only the benefits your confirmation names.
Marriott lists 120 rooms and suites across 22 beachfront acres, with three pools, beach access, and St. Regis Butler Service. It is a destination resort rather than a base for exploring Punta Mita, and Marriott Bonvoy enters only afterwards, as the question of how to pay for it.
A resort at this level is where a big Bonvoy balance has somewhere to go, and the paid rate wins only if this is the year you need the earning and the elite nights more than you need to skip the cash price. Butler Service comes with the brand rather than with your tier, and a suite on the room list is not an upgrade on your booking.
Same room, same cancellation terms, priced in cash and in points, with the rate confirmed as Bonvoy-eligible before you move anything; a non-refundable cash rate set against a cancellable award is not a comparison.
