Wyndham Rewards
Wyndham keeps award pricing unusually easy to understand and gives inexpensive stays a useful earning floor.
At a glance
The short version.
Wyndham Rewards publishes fixed award bands, and they change on September 15, 2026. Through September 14, Go Free awards cost 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per bedroom per night. The new bands are 5,000, 15,000, 30,000, or 45,000.
Wyndham reported about 8,400 hotels in roughly 100 countries in June 2026, with especially strong roadside and midscale coverage alongside selected upscale, resort, and vacation products. Many eligible paid stays earn at least 1,000 points, which can make an inexpensive night surprisingly productive.
Strong points
- Fixed Go Free award bands with a published dated transition
- At least 1,000 points on many eligible paid stays
- Broad everyday and roadside footprint
- Low Gold threshold and rollover-night rules
Watch for
- Award prices change materially on September 15, 2026
- Earning base differs by brand and eligible folio definition
- Four-year lot expiry and inactivity forfeiture are separate risks
- Card award discounts have product and opening-date conditions

The dated award charts
Awards are priced per bedroom, per night. The second schedule is announced but does not take effect until September 15, 2026.
| Item | Free Night through Sep. 14 | Free Night from Sep. 15 | Points + Cash floor from Sep. 15 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lowest band | 7,500 points | 5,000 points | 500 points + cash |
| Second band | 15,000 points | 15,000 points | 1,500 points + cash |
| Third band | 30,000 points | 30,000 points | 3,000 points + cash |
| New highest band | Not present | 45,000 points | 4,500 points + cash |
The current Points + Cash offer starts at 750 points plus cash. Existing points bookings made before September 15 are honored at their booked amount; Wyndham says it will automatically return the difference if the new rate is lower.

What an award can include
| Item | Points treatment | Charges | Planning caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Participating hotel Free Night | Fixed band per bedroom | Room, local taxes, and resort or facility fees are generally covered | Incidentals and optional charges remain |
| All-inclusive hotel | Fixed band per bedroom | Included meals and amenities for up to two registered guests under the property terms | Extra guests and nonincluded services can cost more |
| Points + Cash | Band-specific points plus cash | Taxes and fees can remain payable | Earns Base Points on the cash room component but no elite accelerated bonus |
| Vacation destination or cottage | Often per bedroom; cottages may use a 15,000-point bedroom rate | Product-specific | Minimum stays and controlled inventory can apply |
| Caesars property | Named 15,000- or 30,000-point treatment under current rules | Property-specific | Book through the required Wyndham path and attach the member number |
No blackout dates means a participating hotel does not impose a conventional date blacklist. It does not require every room to be released for points or remove minimum-stay rules.

How it works
Earning, status, and awards.
01 · Who it suits
Wyndham works best on ordinary trips.
Days Inn, Super 8, Microtel, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, La Quinta, Ramada, Wyndham, Trademark Collection, Registry Collection, and other brands create wide coverage across different markets. Vacation-club, Caesars, and certain property types can follow separate participation rules.
Wyndham works best when the hotel already fits the trip and a fixed award band or paid-stay minimum improves the cost. Compare location, condition, fees, cancellation, and the cash alternative before the simple award band sways you.
02 · Earning
Inexpensive stays can earn surprisingly well.
Most brands earn 10 points per eligible US dollar of qualifying room rate. Selected full-service brands use qualifying total folio, while WaterWalk furnished suites earns 5 per eligible dollar. Gold, Platinum, and Diamond add 10%, 15%, and 20% to Base Points.
Many qualifying paid stays receive at least 1,000 total points through Additional Points. The minimum does not apply to points-and-cash awards, and brand, rate, channel, property, and charge exclusions remain. Calculate eligible spend first, then apply the minimum only when the current rules allow it.
03 · Using points
Use the right chart for your dates.
Through September 14, Go Free bands are 7,500, 15,000, and 30,000 points, and Go Fast starts at 750 points plus cash. From September 15, Free Night bands become 5,000, 15,000, 30,000, and 45,000, with Points + Cash floors of 500, 1,500, 3,000, and 4,500. Earlier-price reservations are honored; Wyndham says a difference is returned automatically when the new price is lower.
Property-specific availability, cancellation, no-show, bedroom count, and fee rules still control. Eligible cardholders may receive an award discount, but the percentage depends on exact product and, for some products, opening date. Do not apply a card discount without that confirmation.
04 · Status
Status starts at five nights.
Gold begins at five qualifying nights, Platinum at fifteen, and Diamond at forty. Published benefits include preferred rooms, late or early arrival treatment, and selected suite-upgrade or amenity treatment, all within participation and availability limits.
Qualifying nights can roll over under detailed rules, and the current status duration is more generous than a simple calendar-year expiry. Read the official level terms before planning a rollover strategy or assuming an award night produces points—it can qualify as a night without earning points.
05 · Keeping points active
Points can expire in two ways.
Each point lot generally expires four years after posting. Separately, a member can forfeit the balance after approximately—but never less than—18 consecutive months without balance-changing earn, redeem, or transfer activity. One clock does not cancel the other.
Member-to-member transfers are generally prohibited. Selected travel conversions begin at published minimums and current partner ratios, and incoming bank partners vary by country. Check the live selector rather than relying on a historic ratio.
06 · Our take
Fixed award bands make Wyndham easy to plan.
Fixed award bands make Wyndham easier to understand than programs with fully dynamic pricing. The 1,000-point earning minimum can also be excellent on inexpensive paid nights.
The September 2026 change raises some awards and lowers others. Date every comparison and keep an existing booking until you understand how repricing affects it. Wyndham works best when its hotel already suits the trip; the simple chart should never decide the hotel for you.
Playbook
Earning and redemption, in practice.
Qualification, booking, and redemption call for different decisions. Here is how to handle each one.
Field note 01
The network follows the road
Wyndham's strength is frequency rather than a narrow definition of luxury. Days Inn, Super 8, Microtel, Howard Johnson, Baymont, AmericInn, La Quinta, Wingate, Ramada, and Wyndham Garden give the program substantial roadside and everyday coverage. Wyndham, Wyndham Grand, Dolce, Trademark Collection, Registry Collection, Vienna House, and Wyndham Alltra extend the range into full-service, distinctive, and resort stays.
The corporate count of about 8,400 hotels is useful scale, not a promise of identical participation. Travelodge participates only in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. ECHO Suites does not currently produce Qualified Stays or points, and named individual hotels can be excluded. Club resorts, cottages, vacation rentals, condos, Caesars properties, and redemption-only destinations follow their own sections of the rules.
- Check the hotel on Wyndham's own site and read its reward inventory before comparing programs.
- Treat vacation products as separate redemption systems, especially when bedroom count changes price.
- Use Wyndham where the hotel already wins on location, condition, and total cash cost.
Field note 02
Qualified Stay is a defined term
A Qualified Stay generally consists of consecutive nights at a participating hotel, booked through Wyndham's website, app, reservation center, brand channel, or the hotel, with at least US$25 in eligible rate. Some traditional agency bookings can qualify when they are connected correctly. The member should include the number at booking, occupy a room, and pay the eligible charges.
OTA reservations, airline-crew contracts, wholesale allotments, complimentary stays, and many tour arrangements are excluded. Points + Cash counts toward status but is not a Qualified Stay for the usual earning calculation. A charged no-show can earn Base Points without producing a qualifying night. These distinctions explain many apparently inconsistent account entries.
- Keep the direct confirmation and final folio until the activity posts.
- Verify that the total eligible room rate reaches US$25; taxes do not rescue a lower rate.
- For Caesars and destination products, follow the exact booking path named in the terms.
Field note 03
The 1,000-point minimum rewards inexpensive stays
Most brands earn 10 Base Points per eligible US dollar of room rate. A US$60 room would calculate to 600 Base Points, so an eligible Qualified Stay can be lifted to 1,000 through Additional Points. This makes a short, inexpensive stay more productive than the headline rate suggests. Points + Cash and a partner-currency election do not receive the minimum.
Dolce, Wyndham Grand, Wyndham, and Wyndham Garden use eligible total folio rather than room rate alone. WaterWalk furnished suites earns 5 points per dollar, and unfurnished arrangements do not earn. Gold, Platinum, and Diamond add 10%, 15%, and 20% to Base Points on Qualified Stays. Up to three paid rooms can earn points, although only the member's occupied room produces a qualifying night.
- Calculate eligible spend first, then apply the minimum when the stay qualifies.
- Do not multiply the entire folio unless the brand's rules expressly allow it.
- Compare a cheap one-night direct rate with its OTA alternative after valuing the 1,000-point floor honestly.
Field note 04
Useful recognition begins quickly
Gold arrives after five qualifying nights and brings a 10% Base Point bonus, preferred-room treatment within the booked category, and up to two hours of late checkout when available. Platinum at fifteen adds a 15% bonus, early check-in by up to two hours, and an eligible one-class upgrade with selected rental-car partners at participating US and Canadian airport locations.
Diamond requires forty qualifying nights. Its 20% bonus is straightforward; suite upgrades and the welcome snack or beverage are narrower. They depend on a participating hotel, available inventory, and named brands. Diamond can gift Gold under the current program. Free Night and Points + Cash stays can advance status even though they do not behave like ordinary Qualified Stays for earning.
- Value early arrival and late departure only where they change a real itinerary.
- A preferred room can remain in the booked category; it is not a suite promise.
- Check the amenity and upgrade lists before expecting Diamond treatment at every flag.
Field note 05
Rollover nights make partial years useful
Qualifying nights above the amount used for the member's current tier can roll into a later qualification year under Wyndham's published process. They remain banked until they are applied rather than expiring on a simple annual schedule. The account display is the best record of available rollover nights and how many were consumed during requalification.
The feature changes end-of-year planning. A traveler who cannot reasonably reach Diamond may still benefit from additional direct stays if those nights improve next year's starting position. That does not justify a poor hotel or a large price premium. The expected value is the earlier access to a tier the traveler would otherwise earn naturally.
- Record the account's qualifying and rollover balances before December activity closes.
- Do not assume multiple paid rooms create multiple rollover nights.
- Use rollover as a planning aid, not as a reason to buy unnecessary nights.
Field note 06
Fixed bands reward selective use
Through September 14, Free Nights cost 7,500, 15,000, or 30,000 points per bedroom. The bands do not rise with the cash price for a busy weekend, which can create excellent use when a low-band hotel's all-in rate is high. The same structure can produce weak value when a 30,000-point hotel is inexpensive. Divide the cash cost genuinely avoided by the points required.
At ordinary participating hotels, a Free Night generally covers the room, local taxes, and resort or facility fees. Incidentals remain. All-inclusive awards include the property's defined meal and amenity package for up to two registered guests; additional guests can change the economics. Vacation homes, cottages, and condos can price every bedroom, turning a nominal 15,000-point rate into several times that amount.
- Search low-band hotels on the expensive dates first.
- Include covered taxes and fees in the cash value avoided.
- Check bedroom count, minimum stay, cancellation, and guest charges before reserving a vacation product.
Field note 07
September 15 changes both ends of the chart
On September 15, 2026, Wyndham moves to 5,000, 15,000, 30,000, and 45,000-point Free Night bands. Points + Cash floors become 500, 1,500, 3,000, and 4,500 points plus cash. Wyndham says many hotels will stay near their current position, others will move up or down, and a small number of elevated properties will enter the new 45,000 band.
Reservations made before the change are honored at the booked amount. If a pre-change booking falls to a lower rate after redistribution, Wyndham says the points difference will be returned automatically. A hotel moving upward can therefore be worth booking early when plans are firm; a hotel moving down should still be monitored. Cancellation follows the hotel's reservation policy.
- Date every displayed award price until the transition is complete.
- Keep existing reservations while checking post-change pricing rather than canceling first.
- Do not describe the 5,000- or 45,000-point bands as active before September 15.
Field note 08
Two clocks govern the balance
Wyndham can forfeit a balance after roughly eighteen months without a transaction that changes it through earning, redemption, or transfer. Separately, each point lot normally expires four years after it posts. Creating activity addresses the inactivity rule but does not renew an old lot beyond its hard date. An account can also be closed after extended inactivity under the general terms.
General member-to-member transfers are prohibited. Caesars Rewards transfers are normally one-to-one in 10,000-point increments, with a standard annual ceiling of 30,000 points in each direction, and can take several weeks. Wyndham's public Caesars page has retained expired promotional language, so the current general terms should control unless a new dated offer is visibly active.
- Track the age of large deposits as well as the date of last activity.
- Redeem older points first when the account history makes lot order visible.
- Start a Caesars conversion early and never depend on promotional limits after their printed end date.
Field note 09
Card discounts can reshape an award
The US Earner portfolio announced June 17, 2026 ranges from a no-fee product with Gold and a 10% Free Night discount to the $395 Premier card with Diamond, a 25% discount, anniversary points, and protection from point expiration while the card remains open and in good standing. Business, Plus, and legacy cards carry their own percentages and dates.
Wyndham's online booking system can require the pre-discount standard award balance even though fewer points will ultimately be deducted. A cardholder with only the discounted amount may need to call. The discount can lift redemption value materially, but annual fees, issuer eligibility, anniversary conditions, and overlap with naturally earned status belong in the calculation. No referral offer is assumed here.
- Confirm the exact card product and opening date before applying a discount.
- If an online award fails, compare the balance with the undiscounted band and contact Wyndham.
- Value status once and avoid counting the same benefit as both a card feature and an earned-tier gain.
Field note 10
A practical Wyndham strategy
Use direct inexpensive stays to exploit the 1,000-point minimum and let rollover nights smooth an uneven travel year. Search the lowest award band on high-demand dates, then compare every result with the all-in refundable cash rate. A fixed chart is valuable because it can diverge from price; that same divergence requires restraint when cash is cheap.
Until September 15, make reservations with both charts in view. Secure a likely upward-moving hotel when plans justify it, and recheck every booking after redistribution. Protect the balance against both expiration clocks. Wyndham is at its best when broad coverage, low-band inventory, and a trip the traveler already needs all meet in the same reservation.
- Book direct, attach the number, and preserve the folio.
- Treat the September change as a repricing exercise rather than a reason to speculate.
- Keep points for high-cash dates and use cash when the fixed band is plainly expensive.

Questions
What travelers ask.
Answers reflect the sources and review date above. Promotions, participation, and hotel delivery can change.
01What is a Wyndham Qualified Stay?
It is generally a consecutive stay at a participating hotel booked through an eligible Wyndham or hotel channel with at least US$25 in qualifying rate. The member must meet the occupancy and payment rules. OTAs, many wholesale rates, complimentary nights, and Points + Cash are not Qualified Stays for standard earning.
02How does the 1,000-point minimum work?
If an eligible Qualified Stay calculates below 1,000 points, Wyndham can add points to reach 1,000. Points + Cash and partner-currency elections are excluded. The rule applies per stay, so consecutive nights at one hotel are not separate minima.
03Does Wyndham earn on the room rate or the entire bill?
Most brands earn on eligible room rate. Dolce, Wyndham Grand, Wyndham, and Wyndham Garden use eligible total folio. WaterWalk furnished suites earns at a lower rate, and excluded taxes, fees, or outlets remain outside either calculation.
04Do Free Nights and Points + Cash nights count toward status?
Completed eligible Free Night and Points + Cash stays can produce qualifying nights. Free Nights do not earn Base Points. Points + Cash can earn Base Points on the eligible cash room component but does not receive the elite accelerated bonus.
05What does a Wyndham Free Night cover?
At a standard participating hotel, it generally covers the room, local taxes, and resort or facility fees. Incidentals remain. All-inclusive, Caesars, cottage, condo, and vacation products have product-specific inclusions.
06Are Wyndham awards dynamically priced?
No. Wyndham uses fixed property bands rather than changing the points price with the nightly cash rate. Hotels can be reassigned to a band, and inventory or minimum-stay controls still apply.
07What changes on September 15, 2026?
Free Night bands become 5,000, 15,000, 30,000, and 45,000 points per bedroom. Points + Cash floors become 500, 1,500, 3,000, and 4,500 points plus cash. Before that date, the 7,500, 15,000, and 30,000 chart remains active.
08What happens to an award booked before the September change?
Wyndham says it will honor the booked price. If the hotel moves lower, the points difference is to be returned automatically. Any cancellation still follows the hotel's reservation policy.
09How do rollover nights work?
Qualifying nights beyond those used for a tier can remain in the account for future qualification under Wyndham's rules. Only the member's occupied room counts, even when the member earns points on additional rooms.
10Do Wyndham points expire after eighteen months or four years?
Both rules matter. An inactive account can lose its balance after roughly eighteen months without a balance-changing transaction. Each point lot also has a normal four-year hard expiration that ordinary activity does not extend.
11Do ECHO Suites and Travelodge participate?
ECHO Suites currently does not earn Wyndham Rewards credit. Travelodge participates only in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Individual-property exceptions can still apply.
12Can Wyndham points transfer to Caesars Rewards?
Yes, under the current linked-account rules. The standard ratio is one-to-one in 10,000-point increments with a normal annual limit of 30,000 in each direction. Processing can take weeks, and a dated promotion may temporarily differ.
